Sharif Ullah Gullu (1895-1980)
Sharif Ullah Gullu, The Player of the Sub-Continent footballer was born in Kohat, 1895 and died in1980. Belong from Rajpoot family. His father Habib Ullah & his grandfather Azim Ullah were famous personalities of Kohat, Pakistan. Sharif Ullah Gullu, in his teenage, joined the” Shining Club” and became a star. Number of Gold Medals, Trophies and rewards were awarded on his brilliant performance. He played many International level matches in Mumbai, Delhi, Calcutta, and other parts of India and win prizes. He was fondly known as “Gullu” in Kohat. He was an active and fast player. He was the former professional field Football player from Indo-Pak who played as a Right Forward and kicker. Regarded as one of the greatest player of all time he is the highest goal scorer in international field football. Sharif Ullah Gullu joined the “Shining Club” when he was young. He played for it for many years till 1940. Once during a visit to India British Governor-General of India gave him a prize for his brilliant performance. The man who was the highest goal scorer in men's Football and it was none other. The Kohat-born player was revered for his extraordinary ball control and goal scoring prowess. Played internationally since many years, and scored so many hundred goals in the International matches across Indo-Pak. His remarkable ball control with enormous speed was a rare and lethal combination that can be seen in Football. With his thrilling runs, body dodges and large leaps he could beat and outpace his opponents and penetrate any defense to score goals or create scoring opportunities for his team mates. He was grandfather of Javed Ullah Raja, the writer.
Master Naqib Ullah (1934-2013)
Student life: Got education from Sanger School Kohat and G.H.S No.1 High school Kohat during the time of Sahib Zada Abdul Qadir Khan, Mustafa Khan and Mian Shoukat Mehmood, the senior educators. Start employment: His first selection was made in Air scout during the British era, ten scouts batch were sent to Dirge road Karachi for the glider training at the time of British C.N.C ‘H. Early’ under the supervision of pilot Officer Mr. Afzal. Scouts named included, Shiekh Muzaffar Iqbal, Jafar, Sharon, Gul Mast, and Naqib Ullah The training was conducted and sponsored in the British Era by the Royal Air Force at Maleer cant, Karachi Pakistan. Than after he join Pakistan Air Force and became the commander of his platoon at Kohat air base. Naqib Ullah was famous in the name of kapal Ullah, enjoy his career but did not continue left his service and joined education department of N.W.F.P Career: During education he was the scout Master. During scouts jubilees and tours tribal scouts’ tour of West Pakistan under the supervision and command of Naqib Ullah, scouts meat with the President of Pakistan Field Marshal Muhammad Ayub Khan at Rawalpindi Presidency. Scouts also visited Lahore and met with the Governor, Amir Muhammad Khan, of Kala Bagh. Attached with National gourd and rank was awarded as Subaidar. Master Naqib Ullah, was also a football player, a scout master, and a fire officer. Qualified many fire prevention courses. After retirement N.W.F.P he remained attached with Froebles International School Islamabad for more than 15 years. He stayed in Marjan Public School, Hamdard Public School, and Science College and School Islamabad. Many of his students reached even higher heights and served the nation. Educator: He was among one of the founders of the Kohat comprehensive high school (in the building of old Islamia high school) with Muhammad Arif Bangash. He served during his life in Bund Khula, G.H.S No.1, Comprehensive High School, Ziarat Sheikh Allah Dad, Ladha (Waziristan), Landi Kotal (Kurram Agency) Shabqadar (Khyber Agency) Subhan Khuwar (Khyber Agency) Raisalpur, Akhurwal, Dara Adam Khail, Akhur wal (Kohat pass) and G.H.S No. 4 Kohat
Aziz Akhtar Warsi (1917-1980)
Hailed by Kohat, Khyber Pakhtoon Khawah as a Urdu poet, writer, who has written “Naat” “Marsiah” and beautiful “Ghazals” Aziz Akhtar Warsi was widely praise a far his unique style of poetry, which is gift for our new generation and also guide line for them. Aziz akhter Warsi’s poetry was full of dignities, habits and small griefs of daily life, his idea for hanger, struggle shows and the reader found him self engaged with. His poetry is balanced in natural and unnatural human worlds. His verses reach beyond his native region to touch on universal themes in accessible ways. Abdul Aziz Akhter Warssi was Pathan; to Yousaf zai was born in Kohat in 1917 and was son of Mr. Nabi Baksh .He was resided of Mohallah Ranger Kohat city. He received his education from his Town, and was also qualified B.C.D French. He is author of number of collection of poetry including every topic of the daily life under the guide line of popular name in the Poets “Semab Akbar Abadi”. Aziz Akhtar Warsi was popular among his fellows and was elected as General Sectary in “Bazmi Sukhan Kohat”and after that he was elected president in “Righter gills” Aziz Akhter Warsi served in judicial department Kohat. He was closed friend of SharifUllah Gullu, Footballer of the sub-continent. Aziz Akhter Warsi was died in 1980 in the age of 63 years old and was buried at Kohat, his death news was also announced from “All India Radio”. He left two sons Major Muhammad Zulfiqar Arif and Muhammad Waqar Babar, a nice gentle man, engaged in self business at his native district
Pir Ghamkol Sharif ,r.a (1939-1999)
Pir Ghamkol Sharif (r.a) hailed from Kohat. He was born in Jungle khail village of Kohat in the year 1912. And was known as “Zinda Pir” His father was Pir Ghulam Rasool Shah (r.a) Hazrat Pir Sahib (r.a) was spiritual recognition from his childhood. It was narrated that in 1938 he joined army as a tailor master. During his job he visited many mazars throughout the country; finally he visited darbar of Hazrat Imam Ali ul Haq (r.a). Pir sahib instructed to precede Mohra Sharif Murree. He bait on the hands of Hazrat Khawaja Muhammad Qasim (r.a) of Mohra Sharif. Pir Ghamkol Sharif (r.a) continued job for 10 years and displayed many karamats by the grace of Allah. Once the unit man noticed that he was saying prayer on the watercourse. In 1948 Pir Ghamkol Sharif was stayed in Abbottabad with his unit and was wide known as saint. He left the army in 1949 and stayed in Abbottabad as a Pir there he meat with Hazrat toori Baba (r.a) who was the Pir bhai of Pir Ghamkol Sharif (r.a) It is be noted that Pir Syed Mehmood Shah Muhaddis Hazrwi (r.a) of Havalian was also Pir bhai of Hazrat Pir Ghamkol Sharif (r.a) Pir sahib Left for first Hajj in !952, in Madina in front of Raza-i-Rasool he was shown a Vision Hazrat Pir sahib saw some mountains while on one mountain it was written “Zinda Pir Darbar-e- Alia Ghamkol Sharif”. From that day Pir sahib was known as Zinda Pir. Returning from Hajj Pir Sahib (r.a) migrate from Abbottabad to Kohat. Hazrat Pir Sahib was had love for the saints of Naqshbandia, Qadria, Suharwardia and Chistia. He was fond of Hazrat Khawaja Ajmair Sharif (r.a). Hazrat Pir Ghamkol Sharif visited for many years to the Mazar of Hazrat Ibrahim Khandozai (r.a) in the village of Shiekhan in Kohat. It was the routine of Pir Ghamkol Sharif that he visited at 2 a.m say tahajjad there and returns to the valley of Ghamkol before Fajar Prayer. Hazrat Ibrahim Khandozai passed faiz to Hazrat Khawaja Ajmairee (r.a) Hazrat Pir Sahib was departed from the world on 21st March 1999 and was buried there. The roza Mubarak was constructed under the supervision of Hazrat Pir Habibullah shah, grandson of Pir Sahib. Sajada Nashine of the Darbar is Hazrat Khawaja Pir Badshah Sahib. Pir Abaidullah is son of the Pir sahib (r.a)
Ahmad Faraz (1939-2008)
Ahmad Faraz, the poet hailed from Kohat. He was born in Nowshera in 1939. His father Muhammad Shah Barq was a Persian poet and remained attach with the Radio Pakistan. Ahmad Faraz was a resident of Mohallah Miankhel, Kohat. He was belonged from the family of Sufi Saint Hazrat Haji Bahadar (r.a) of Kohat. He got his early education from Kohat and then from Peshawar. He was indeed a great Urdu poet of the sub-continent.The writer of the sub-continent was awarded pride of performance. Ahmad Faraz was died on 27th August, 2008 He will be remembered by the lovers of Urdu poetry.

Towns
Lachi
Lachi is situated on Indus Highway between Kohat and Karak towards south. Many bazaars, colleges, schools, post offices, banks and the Fauji Foundation Hospital are situated in Lachi. The famous thing of eating is Dadozi. The main source of income is agriculture. It is 1,500 feet above the sea level.
Shakardara
Shakardara is the valley of sand, fertile and cultivated lands. Farmers depend upon rain for cultivation. Wells of oil are also present here.
Gumbbat
Gumbbat is a town of Kohat on the way to Rawalpindi\Islamabad. Its villages are Awan, Bazaar, Dartapi and Khadarkhel.
Khushal Garh
Khushak Garh is 30 miles from Kohat, and is on the bank of the River Indus. It is named after Khusahl Khan Khattak. Sufi Saint Baba Mastan Shah Bukhari’s tomb and a Dak Bungalow (rest house) are situated on the top of a hill on the riverside. Most of the area is the wasteland.
Darra Adam khel
Darra Adam khel is Kohat pass to the north of the district. It is a tribal area and situated about seven kilometres from Kohat. Indus Highway passes through Darra Adam khel. There are banks, post offices, high schools, technical schools and bazaars here. The people of the area are called Afridies. Some villages are Akharwal, Ferozimela, Boostikhel and Sheraki. The area was administered by a political agent, a tehsildar, a naib tehsildar and a khasadar. All other internal affairs were looked after by a Malik in each village. Shahid Afridi, a world famous cricketer, belongs to F.R Kohat. Other famous people of the area are Ajab Khan Afrridi, Malik Sarmast Khan Afridi (transporter) and Usman Shah, an educator.

College Town, K.D.A Town. College Town is situated on Rawalpindi Road adjacent to the Kohat Degree College, while K.D.A Town is located on Peshawar Road. The Kohat Hospital and the K.B.I.S.E office, the Nadra office, the Passport office and all other district offices are in the town. It is newly constructed town of the city and all facilities are available.

Sikhs were withdrawn from the area Nawab Muhammad khan of Teri in 1839, and he got control. Karak District is on the Indus Highway on the way to Bannu, D.I. Khan, and was separated from Kohat in 1982. Its total population belongs to Sunni sect and is called Khattak. People of Karak are educated. In the district many fairs (melas) are held in Methakhel, Takhti-e-Nasrati, Landqamar, and Machakai.

Hangu consists of Lower Meranzai and Upper Meranzai. Hangu is a green and beautiful area situated 26 miles away from Kohat. Hangu was first a tehsil of Kohat and separated from Kohat in 1998 and declared a district of Kohat Division. Hangu is about 3,000 feet above the sea level. Hangu was ruled by Ghulam Muhammad Khan of Hangu during the time of Nadir Shah. The district has natural beauty and hilly areas in abundance. Mainly Shia population is settle here and is called Bangash. In the district, there is a police training college. Its famous bazaar is Patt Bazar. Hangu’s famous mela held every week. There are college, schools and banks in Hangu. Ali Haider, who had got Victoria Cross in the Second World War, belongs to the district.
